It’s only a simple little picture, yet placed as these beauties are within the context of bare grey tree trunks, evergreen branches and medicinal Balsam trees in the right background side of the image, the contrast in textures and colors is both astonishing and utterly pleasing to the eye.

We found these gorgeous golden-yellow Scaly Hydnum mushrooms sprouting from the trunk of an old-growth version of one of our hardy Northern breeds of Willow tree a couple of years ago.

Located along the trail leading into our fish camp the brilliance of their color and unique placement was hard to miss, and my wife made sure to return to that location with camera in hand to capture this photo of them.

It can be worth it to go find a bush trail of your own to walk along sometime. You never know, you too may find a version of  ‘Mother Nature’s Beauty revealed by Mushroom Growth on Tree’ in your locale as well.
