Though the storms rage in fury and the rains descend in sheets, the ‘Rainbow’s Beauty reminds us of God’s ancient Covenant with Man’ as portrayed in the pictures of today’s post.

You’ll not usually find me quoting Scripture in my posts, but looking at these rainbow pictures caused me to do a little digging – into both my memories and my New American Standard Bible to research that ancient promise of God concerning them. That promise bears repeating here in the context of these images…

In Genesis 9:13 & 14 God says to Noah after the great Flood, “I set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth. And it shall come about, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud.”

There’s little question that this promise has been carried out to perfection not only in the images before your eyes, but also over all the ages of mankind since it was first spoken by the Divine Creator of its unparallelled beauty and promise.

Both of these shots were taken in the aftermath of heavy rainstorms which had separately blown through and poured their fury out over the lands surrounding my mountain cabin at the fire tower one summer.

And in the quiet following that fury of outpouring waters this ancient promise of old was shown in the sky again, that the bow would be set in the cloud as a sign of covenant between God and the earth.

As you can see, in one of those pictures the bow was even doubled as though to put an extra stamp of promise upon its message.

It’s an awesome promise that’s been kept, and one that comes to life in every awe-inspiring shade and hue of a rainbow’s palette of rich colors each time it graces our lives with its appearance as a reminder of that promise.

So it really is true, that a rainbow’s beauty reminds us of God’s ancient covenant with Man – and what an unparallelled beauty it is!
